The follow-up to HALO MAUD’s gorgeous 'Du Pouvoir/Power', ‘Wherever’ is a beautifully complex sonic journey through, pop, psychedelia and retro synth-pop. Spanning a substantial 5 minutes and 23 seconds HALO MAUD introduces a variety of melodic elements throughout the track from the bright and breezy verses to killer CHVRCHES-esque vocal hooks in the chorus to a whimsical extended outro. Shuffling drums keep the whole thing from veering off into space, providing solid ground for a wealth of experimentation with guitars and synthesizers. The video for ‘Whenever’ is an appropriately colourful accompaniment to the kaleidoscopic track. Directed by the French collective Deezooit, interpretive dance moves are layered with cosmic effects.
